Beautiful hotel. Fantastic staff - very helpful and welcoming. Rooms were immaculately clean and well decorated. Food was delicious. Great breakfast. We all really enjoyed our stay.

Had a great stay at The Methuan Arms. We loved the fact that all three of us could stay in the same room. It is a great place and I love the fact that it is dog friendly (even though this was a weekend away with two girlfriends and none of our dogs). It is very stylish, the bar and restaurant areas are all lovely and the breakfasts were amazing, with really good quality ingredients. Every member of staff we dealt with were lovely. We are definitely going to book again for our next get together.

Pleasant location and interior, comfortable atmosphere and friendly waiting service. Let down by portion size of mains which I feel was on the small side considering it costs £15 for 3 slices of pumpkin... Food itself was lovely.

Fantastic ancient pub in the centre of Corsham, the rooms were lavishly appointed and very comfortable. Each room had a good selection of Facilities including a coffee machine, a selection of teas, and a well equipped bathroom with a selection of toiletries and hand cream. The only reason why I have given them four stars and not five is that as a resident there is no residents lounge to sit down at peak times. As the pub is quite old, the layout is subdivided on the ground floor into nooks and crannies, separate rooms andalcoves . At peak times the pub is very busy and it is often difficult to find somewhere to sit with all available space being turned into pre-booked tables and chairs. You end up feeling like you need to order a drink at the bar then retreat to your room just to find somewhere comfortable to sit, as we went in the festive season I can understand that there are big groups and parties that may have pre-booked spaces for family and friends, however it appears that there is also the opportunity for an additional provision for those who are staying at the hotel for multiple nights.

Cozy, rustic pub, not a 5 star hotel. The room was generally nice, the radio was on when we arrived which was a welcoming touch. However there was mould on the ceiling from a leak and the pillows were lumpy and old. Our experience with dining here was unfortunately unpleasant. Our waitress seemed stressed and told us she was struggling because she was on her own, however there did seem to be lots of other wait staff on. Drinks took ages, but our main meals came out while we were still eating our starters. The burger was dry and the risotto was swimming in oil. Like a lot of other reviewers say, this isn’t a 5 star hotel. It would be better if they focused on doing good pub grub well.

I love the Methuen Arms, we’ve visited on several occasions and just had the greatest three night Christmas break. The food is consistently excellent, but the friendliness of team is what keeps up going back. Looking forward to seeing the place after its mini refurb, but in honesty we love it, as it is.

So, booked for 10 for boxing day lunch, the room was so cold as the central heating was not on, 'in December' a poor electric heater did take the chill off if the staff remembered to close the door, food was great apart from one of our guests was unable to make it, we phoned very early on the day to cancel their booking so all should be fine,, no it wasn't, the manageress is a vile person who is run by greed, she insisted we had to pay for the cancelled main course even though we explained earlier in the day, personally I will never set in this place again

The Snug room we booked had two lighting faults, and the bathroom extract fan did not work. All reported to the front desk, but not rectified. On our first night of staying we decided to have an evening meal. One course, the pork dish arrived cold, meat and vegetables, although when highlighted to a very helpful waitress, was reheated by microwave oven. The breakfast on the second morning consisted of burnt bacon, and the sour dough toast was in fact, rock hard, and not very appetising. Paid over £400.00p for two nights b&b, not what you could call calue for money😳.

We were taken to our premium room with a promise of on the house prosecco, this never materialised. The room was roomy and comfortable but the bathroom was in need of repair around the bath. We had booked in for a meal and it was very busy it being Friday night before Christmas, so we did make allowances. However no one was there to show us to our table so eventually we assumed the only reserved table for 2 was ours. It wasn't. We were shood away by the waitress and tried another dining room . There we were given a table for 5 just by the entrance. We were not spoken to politely. My husband was told he would have to go to the bar to get drinks and there would be a long wait to order food. By this time I was nearly in tears. We were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary but I think we would have had better service in Macdonalds. A different waitress realised our predicament and tried to make amends. But our evening was spoiled. We noticed that a 10% service charge is automatically added to the bill!! Maybe this hotel/pub is being too ambitious having residents during a very busy pre Christmas time. It certainly didn't feel we were treated well, more of a nuisance.

We moved to the area 18months ago. Friends who have stayed say the rooms & food are good. I'm writing this just to moan that the bar is always understaffed. It's a fabulous building & one of the few pubs my wife feels happy with. So it's really frustrating that yet again this week there's one guy trying to deal with a queue of people trying to get a drink. We've visited a dozen times & it's always been the same. Sort the staffing & it would be 5 stars.

The Methuen Arms is a great hotel in the Cotswolds. It's centrally located and a great base for exploring the nearby attractions. We had a lovely big room with private shower and bath. The staff are welcoming and very friendly and attentive. There is no noise at night from the bar and restaurant. The restaurant is, by far, the best dining in the local area and the included breakfast is top notch. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it. Some noteworthy things: the parking lot is often full as it is a busy pub - this tells you how great ti is - but it can be a problem for guests. Also, they do not offer any laundry facilites or services - just be warned you will have to fend for yourself and the local shops do not help, either.

We were three friends who booked to catch up. Overall we were very impressed. The pub was lovely, Christmas decorations were beautiful. The staff were brilliant, friendly, responsive and efficient. Particular mention here for receptionists (sorry think it was Katie) and a young man who ordered our taxi. They were very attentive and helpful. Also to Emma our waitress who was friendly, efficient and chatty. The food, wow, we were seriously impressed. I will be back and highly recommend people book and try the food. A couple of things would have made this a five star rating. Our room was noisy, (road in one side and kitchen fan on the other - room 12) maybe something can be done with double glazing a couple of small window. Would make a difference. The shower was good but leaked as the drainage was poor so the tray overflowed and is causing damage in the bathroom. Other than that we had a great time, and it is a wonderful place to stay. Thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome.

Mid week meal with friends. We have never been so underwhelmed before! The slowest service ever received. Drinks took over 30 mins to arrive after we were seated. First course arrived safely after another long wait. But the potato and leak soup ordered by one of our party, was surprisingly bright pea green with peas doing a lap of the bowl. When the green soup was mentioned to the waiting staff, they disappeared and came back to explain it was indeed leak and potato, but peas are included. it was eaten, lukewarm by now as, well it was on the table..... Fish and chips all round, OK, but not great. Puddings lovely. Would we come again? No. Definitely not.

We enjoyed an excellent private function for 20 people on a busy Sunday lunchtime. The team at The Methuen could not have been more helpful and accommodating, the food was excellent and I will definitely return.

We have had several meals here now since joining the loyalty club, and to date have always been very happy with everything. Unfortunately today, while a new tasty looking xmas menu, our meal was very ordinary. I had the pork, which was nice, but the pork very chewey, and my wife had the Christmas special sandwich, which she said was very tasty. However it did look a bit sad and with most places, here included, you normally get a bit of salad/ coleslaw and maybe some crisps with your sandwich, just to make the plate look more appealing. This however was a tasty toasted sandwich with what looked like one small supermarket pig in blanket. Staff as ever brilliant and we received discount for being a loyalty customer, but I'm afraid just a very average meal. Really hope the crab stater comes back soon, this is one of the reason it's my preferred lunch location, and things improve with the food, and I'm hoping this was just a one off.

This is an easy review to write. Being connected to a local business, we use the Methuen Arms constantly for the Team and visiting colleagues. I have never had a bad experience and enjoy any time I spend at the Hotel. If there was ever one comment to pass it would only be around the menu within the restaurant. I am a strict pescatarian and a fussy eater, and the menu lacks variety for vegan, vegetarian or alternative tastes. If you are reading this and wondering whether the Methuen Arms would be a place to stay, please do; you will not be disappointed! Disclaimer - I am not being paid to write a glowing review! :)

We did have a lovely stay at The Methuen, especially the location as the park next to the car park was absolutely perfect for walking our dog. The menu was fairly restrictive for my wife who is vegetarian but I was very happy to have the steak both evenings, as was my dog! I would just like to mention two issues we had during our stay : 1) We love a bath and the tub in room 17 was beautiful, however the water temp was not. Luke warm at best and by the time I had run the bath it wasn’t nice to relax in for more than a few minutes as it was cold. However the shower water temp was scalding so we didn’t understand the issue there! 2) During our last evening at dinner whilst sat on a small round wobbly table, my wife leant on the edge of the table, to pull her chair in and the lit candle fell towards my wife narrowly missing her hair as she tried to protect herself and spilt wax everywhere, all over her hair, top and skirt. She took a linen napkin to the room to try to remove the wax from her top but it’s left grease marks. Not really sure this a safe decoration especially for wobbly tables or for those guests with children! The member of staff serving us was a bit embarrassed by the situation and offered to get the top dry cleaned but due to checking out the following morning, that wasn’t an option. We would like to mention that James in the bar, has great knowledge and was an absolute gent when he offered to make my favourite whisky old fashioned. A credit to your company.

The best coffee in this town by far plus you get a biscuit. The service is impeccable and pricing reasonable. Well worth a visit.
